Use Of The Bold Center For Tutoring Essay - 1948 Words

Since arriving at CU Boulder, I have been able to utilize all the different campus resources. I received the BOLD scholarship, so I am very active in the BOLD community. I go their for tutoring. I found this to be extremely helpful, because someone is always in the BOLD center, ready to help engineers with their core classes, such as Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus. In the beginning of the year, I struggled a lot with Chemistry, and the BOLD center tutoring helped me a lot. I will definitely consider to use the BOLD center for tutoring again. Also, because I am a BOLD scholar, I was able to set up and advising appointment with the director of the BOLD center, Vanessa Dunn. Vanessa helped me out a lot. She gave me tips to use when studying for a big exam. I will continue to go to Vanessa Dunn in the future if I ever have any questions or concerns. Finally, I did go to office a few times for my chemistry and calculus class throughout the semester. I found that going to TA office hours was actually more helpful, because there were usually less students around. When I went to my professors office hours for chemistry, I found it very difficult to get my questions answered. In the future I think I will continue to go to my TAs office hours rather than my professors. While exploring these different options, I did not sign up for career services. Overall, the campus offers a great select of different option in order for students to get help and I will continue to use as many as IShow MoreRelatedWriting and Topic Sentence1136 Words   |  5 PagesWeek One: Writing Basics Details Due Points 1.1 Determine appropriate purpose, audience, tone, and content for various types of writing. 1.2 Identify components of good paragraph writing. 1.3 Use complete sentences in written work. The Primary Goals Of The South - 1623 Words

Following Reconstruction, the primary goals of the South alongside the rebuilding of their infrastructure, stabilizing and industrializing their economies and divesting from the agrarian focus was the education, training and job placement of the newly freed men. Not the freedmen as a whole but specifically the freed men. There was no effort or attention given to the more than one million women who too were freed, it is in this action where we find the marginalization of the minority within the minority begins. In her memoirs, Sophia B Packard, Co-founder of Spelman College, an all-girl historically black college, described the deplorable conditions of black women in the south, stating that many of them were â€Å"impoverished, landless and illiterate.† With these conditions the options for black women during the time were slim to none, they could stay at home and raise their children or enter domestic servitude. At this same time black men were the topic of much deliberation about how best to advance themselves and further their stations in life. When the topic of â€Å"what to do with these Negroes† was discussed this did not include black women. Black women during this time had a backseat to the nationwide discussion about how to best educate and uplift the black man. The leaders of this movement were Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Dubois. Things You Need to Know about Your Facebook Account Safe Usage

Things You Need to Know about Your Facebook Account Safe Usage Facebook has become a major part of everyone`s life. Obviously, it`s very difficult to break up with it. Taking into consideration the latest news concerning the users` data giving off, more and more people are under threat of being disclosed. Facebook can get your personal information without any problems and you get no idea about this. The US and British lawmakers found out that the political data firm collected all the information concerning Donald Trump`s campaign of 2016 for creating a â€Å"psychographic voter model.† 50 million of users were not warned and the question is â€Å"Why?† Facebook also included and distributed fake political advertisements which caused the voters misleading. Some people are afraid their personal data can be used elsewhere except Facebook, some users have fears concerning their personal photos and videos, that`s why most of them decide to end up with this social media. Still, it`s not really easy. So, what exactly you need to do to stop being a Facebook user? Facebook investigates and estimates how people arrive at specific decisions concerning their safety and privacy. This data is then used to make the systems safer. For years Facebook has been collecting data of its users. Once you have uploaded some information about yourself, it will be difficult to delete it. Your posts will stay there forever. There wasn`t a complete deleting of users` information until 2007. Even if the account is deleted, the information is saved so that you can get your account back with all the data at any time. There`s an option of permanent deletion available since 2008, in case you would like to join Facebook sometime later. The ways to end up with Facebook Nowadays, if you want to end up with your Facebook account, you can choose between two options. The first one includes deactivation, it allows you to come back any time you want, all your data will be saved (still, your personal information will be available to the company even if you don`t come back). The second option is a deletion, which deals with permanent removal of your account. However, this takes much time. You need to get in touch with Facebook, follow some steps of the procedure. Then you are to wait for about two weeks, while the deletion is being proceeded. Take into consideration, if you sign in during this period, the deletion will be terminated automatically. There`s one more option, which you can choose, just stop using Facebook and signing your account. That`s what most people actually do. There isn`t an accurate answer to the question concerning the number of users who have deleted or deactivated their accounts. Facebook refuses to share the figures. There`s the right â€Å"to be forgotten† in the UE, which is not in the US. Americans need more strict policy concerning their personal data safety. Before making any decisions, you are to think well on the threat model, so you can have an idea of what exactly can happen to you. Of course, you can worry about some strangers who can collect information about your family, workplace and home address. Using some other recourses along with Facebook can help them lots of information about your health and living condition, financial status etc. Indeed, the companies just gather information about Facebook users to know what ads to send you. They want to know more about your consuming interests. You should keep in mind, that Facebook keeps lots of your personal data but it isn`t intended to give it off. You can check Facebook Policy to get more information on this. Take into account some useful tips to follow to stay safe while using Facebook. Don`t link apps to your Facebook account Of course, it`s easy to sign into other apps with Facebook as it might be difficult to remember all those passwords. Still, when you proceed with it, you give the permission to use your data for the third-parties, which will have access to your information on Facebook. Choose whom to connect You should wisely add friends on Facebook. Confirm only those people who you know in your real life: your family members, relatives and close friends. Having strangers among your friends` list makes your personal information under threat. Pay attention to the posts on your timeline You are to control the timeline of your narrations. It`s better not to let others leave posts on your timeline as you can`t be sure in their accuracy and adequacy. Make safe posts Think well on the information you upload on your account. Even the notification of your birthday can be not only sweet but dangerous at the same time. Moreover, don’t post with location taggers, as others do not really need to know the exact locations of your movements as well as you probably won`t like the idea to be spammed by updates of other users, who tag the same places. Like less Every day we get lots of requests to like some posts, places, groups. This really helps to create an image of our profile and interests. Be careful while posting on Facebook, use the benefits of staying in touch with your friends but don`t be too trustful.
